Holden to launch more fuel-efficient engines

Holden will manufacture two new V6 engines in Australia for its Commodore range, promising they will boost fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Holden says the Commodore Omega sedan will be able to travel from Melbourne to Sydney on a single tank of fuel. The engines will be manufactured in the Port Melbourne plant and will be used in the Commodore range built at Elizabeth in South Australia from September. Holden General Manager Mark Reuss says a technology called spark ignition direct injection will be used. “Commodore will be the first locally-built vehicle to use this advanced technology on the Australian market,” he said.
