Hino Motors to open truck plant in Indonesia

Hino Motors Ltd. is building its largest overseas factory in Indonesia, spending 3 billion yen (US$33.84 million) on a facility capable of turning out 25,000 compact trucks a year, according to The Nikkei.  The plant will produce 5-8 ton trucks jointly developed by Hino and parent Toyota Motor Corp. The facility, located at Hino Motors Manufacturing Indonesia’s West Java site, is scheduled to go on stream at the end of the year. The trucks will be tailored to the Southeast Asian market, both in terms of features and price. The new models will offer improved fuel efficiency. They will be sold under the Hino and Toyota brands.
