Hindustan Petroleum rolls out first batch of Euro IV gasoline

Hindustan Petroleum Corp. Ltd. said its Mumbai refinery has rolled out the first batch of Euro-IV gasoline motor spirit for the country’s north and north-western regions. The state-run oil marketing company plans to supply Euro-IV fuel at its retail outlets from April 1, 2010, but the fuel was rolled out to outlets January 4 as a “preparatory dilution exercise,” HPCL said in a statement. India’s National Auto Fuel Policy established the Bharat Stage-IV emission rules to regulate the emission of harmful pollutants from vehicles. Specifications under Bharat Stage-IV norms are equivalent to Euro-IV, including a sulfur content of less than 50 parts per million, less than 21% olefins and less than 35% aromatics. (January 7, 2010)
