Gulf Oil to add lube blending capacity
India’s Gulf Oil Corp. plans to build a new lubricant plant to add 15,000 tons to its current production capacity of 75,000 tons a year as it expects a surge in product sales. “We are using 80% of the capacity in our current plant in Silvassa (in western India)…We’ll be using all the capacity in the next two years, which will trigger the need for a new plant,” said Ravi Chawla, president of Gulf Oil’s lubricants division. He said the company will build the plant in two to three years, but did not give other details such as the planned investment or the plant’s location. (December 22, 2010)
