Gujarat reduces VAT on petrol, diesel fuel
Pakistan has reduced the value added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by 3% while the entire 4% VAT on cooking gas was withdrawn by the state government, said Minister of State for Power, Saurabh Patel, and Pakistan Health Minister and cabinet spokesman, Jaynarayan Vyas. Vyas said the tax cut would make petrol cheaper by Rs1.38 per liter (US$0.03) and diesel fuel by Rs1 (US$0.02) per liter, while cooking gas would now cost Rs13.05 (US$0.30) less per cylinder. He said the state government decided to provide some relief to the people despite itself shouldering an additional burden of more than Rs1,450 crore (US$338.33 million) due to the price increase in petrol and other petroleum products.
