Guangzhou to invest in developing new-energy vehicles

The deputy mayor of Guangzhou, the capital city of Guangdong Province in South China, said that the city plans to invest RMB 800 million (US$126.1 million) into the research, development and promotion of new-energy vehicles. The city recently signed an agreement with China Southern Power Grid Co. Ltd. to develop charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. The city also plans to put 2,600 new-energy vehicles into operation over the next three years, including buses and taxis, sanitation trucks and postal cars, service cars and passenger vehicles.
