Guangzhou becomes China's 3rd city to use Euro IV fuel

The southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, has become the third city in China to introduce higher quality gasoline equivalent to Euro IV standard gasoline. The city launched Yue 4 standard gasoline from August 1 and will introduce Yue 4 standard diesel fuel next year, aiming to reduce vehicle emissions by 15%, the China Petrochemical News reported. Beijing introduced Euro IV fuel before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and Shanghai adopted it in November 2009, ahead of this year’s World Expo which was held in the city. Guangzhou will host the Asian Games in November, one of Asia’s largest sporting events. The rest of China was required to use Euro III standard gasoline from January this year and Euro III diesel fuel from June 2011. (August 3, 2010)
