Guangdong to build China's largest refinery

Sinopec Guangzhou Company (SGC), the Guangzhou branch of China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation, will build an oil refinery with an annual output of 13-15 million tons with Kuwait National Petroleum Corporation in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. The refinery will be China’s largest joint venture project with an investment of US$5 billion. The US$4.3 billion Nanhai project of CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. is currently the largest refinery. Including the newly approved China-Kuwait Joint Refinery Project and the refinery project of SGC, Guangdong currently has four oil refineries, either completed or in the planning stage, with a total capacity of more than 10 million tons.
