GS Caltex to complete construction of hydrocracker in Q4

South Korea’s GS Caltex will complete construction of a 60,000 barrels per day (bpd) residue hydrocracker at its 750,000 bpd Yeosu refinery in the fourth quarter, a company official said. The refiner began to build the unit in June 2008 and now it has completed 80% of the work, the company said. GS Caltex earlier also planned to complete construction of a 53,000 bpd fluid catalytic cracker in late 2010. The completion of the FCC, however, was delayed to 2012. Once the new hydrocracker comes on stream, GS Caltex’s total upgrading capacity, or cracking capacity, will increase to 213,000 bpd from 153,000 bpd. (February 24, 2010)
