GS Caltex receives request for oil products from JX
In a company statement, South Korea’s GS Caltex said it has received a request from JX Nippon Oil & Energy for 1 million to 1.5 million barrels of oil products, including gasoline, naphtha, fuel oil and diesel. JX Nippon is Japan’s largest oil refiner. JX has already canceled roughly 200,000 kiloliters of March exports and is negotiating with buyers in China and other parts of Asia to cancel April shipments, according to media reports. In addition, Mitsubishi Corp. has also requested oil product shipments. GS Caltex, South Korea’s second largest crude oil refiner, indicated it would be supplying Japan, which is recovering from a Magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunami, with the requested oil products.
