GS Caltex posts 42% rise in Q2 sales
South Korea’s GS Caltex said sales for the second quarter reached 12.47 trillion won (US$10.7 billion) while operating profits amounted to 364.9 billion won (US$313.4 million). Sales increased by 42% from the same period a year ago, while operating profits rose by 35%. Exports accounted for 66% percent of total sales, it said, reaching a total of 14.845 trillion won (US$12.7 billion) in the first half of this year. The group has four significant reportable segments: refining, lubricants, petrochemicals, gas & power and others. It said lubricant sales contributed 375.2 billion won (US$322.2 million) in the first half, with operating profit amounting to 94.8 billion won (US$80.7 million). Petrochemical sales contributed 1.997 trillion won (US$1.715 billion), with operating profit amounting to 178.4 billion won (US$152.8 million). (August 19, 2011)
