Great Wall to raise production capacity
Great Wall Motor is set to increase its Chinese production capacity to 250,000 units per annum by the end of this year, reports Bloomberg. Bai Xuefei, deputy general manager of Great Wall Motor, confirmed the news, stating that the company expects to sell about 190,000 vehicles this year. However, Great Wall is currently planning to invest 8.5 billion yuan (US$1.2 billion) in expanding annual production capacity at its Tianjin facility to 500,000 units by 2012, in addition to developing fuel-efficient gasoline-powered passenger cars with engines between 1000cc and 2000cc and exporting its models to Europe and the United States by next year.
