Goa’s economy may be hit by closure of pipeline

The scarcity of High Speed Diesel (HSD) brought about by the closure of a pipeline that transports petroleum products from Mormugao harbor may hit Goa’s economy in the near future. The demand for HSD will grow even more once the fishing and mining season begins because fishing trawlers and mining trucks run on HSD. Motor Spirit (MS), HSD and Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) were initially brought from the Belgaum depot. But because of the inadequate supply from the Belgaum depot, petroleum products are now being sourced from Mangalore, which is causing transportation delays and is creating scarcity in various parts of Goa, which is located in south west India.
