GM to showcase Chevrolet Volt EV in 2011
U.S. auto giant General Motors Co. (GM) plans to showcase its Chevrolet Volt electric vehicle (EV) in Japan as early as 2011, company officials have said. GM, now under reconstruction, hopes to highlight its market presence to potential Japanese buyers through promotional events, according to the officials. The company is expected to start full-fledged sales of the Chevrolet Volt in Japan in 2012 at the earliest. The EV can travel up to 64 kilometers per single charge. The company is set to start selling the model in the United States later this year. It plans to manufacture some 10,000 units by the end of 2011 and 30,000 units in 2012. (August 24, 2010)
