GM to re-operate assembly plant

PT General Motors Auto World Indonesia (GMAWI), the sole agent to theChevrolet brand, is going to re-operate its assembly plant in Pondok Ungu, Bekasi, West Java. The assembly plant will be operated again by the end of the year after its principal, General Motors Corporation, decides on the type of cars to be manufactured. Worldwide, General Motors has several brand groups, namely Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, GM Daewoo, Holden, Hummer, Opel, Pontiac, Saab, Saturn and Vauxhall. Although the models to be produced were still being negotiated, Director of Marketing, Planning & Public Relations of PT GMAWI Debora Amelia confirmed that the vehicles would be passenger vehicles instead of commercial ones.
