GM to invest in 2 powertrain plants

General Motors said it will invest approximately US$129 million in two Powertrain plants in Ohio and Indiana in the U.S. These plants manufacture transmissions for Buick and Chevrolet vehicles with eAssist technology. GM is also investing US$2 billion in 17 plants in eight U.S. states. Cathy Clegg, vice president of labor relations, said “GM continually assesses its product offerings and makes adjustments to meet consumer demand. GM is moving quickly to get more fuel-efficient technologies into our vehicles to benefit the consumer, and these investments are an example of the speed with which we are responding.โ€ (July 13, 2011)
