GEO to acquire BASF’s bisomer monomer business

GEO Specialty Chemicals, Inc. is acquiring the bisomer monomer business from BASF, which will include the Hythe manufacturing facility in England that produces hydroxy methacrylates, multifunctional methacrylates (MFM) and specialty adducts, polyalkylene glycols (PAG) and PAG-based lubricants. Closing of the transaction is expected in the third quarter. BASF committed to divest its hydroxy monomer business assets, following its December 2010 acquisition of Cognis. Upon completion of the transaction, BASF will purchase PAG and PAG-based lubricants manufactured at the Hythe site, under a long-term supply agreement with GEO. The acquisition is subject to approval by the EU Commission. The parties have agreed not to announce the terms of the transaction. (June 25,2011)
