General Motors India to launch diesel engine for Beat
General Motors India is planning to manufacture diesel engines for its successful Chevrolet Beat at its Talegaon manufacturing facility near Pune. “The one-liter diesel engine will be rolled-out from Talegaon early next year for our small car, Beat,” General Motors India Vice-President Sales, Marketing and Services Ankush Arora said. The auto major would also manufacture its 1.2-liter gasoline engine from the same facility, which would be introduced at the end of this year, he said. General Motors India’s manufacturing plant at Talegaon has an annual engine manufacturing capacity of 160,000 units. (June 8, 2010)
