GE and Toshiba to introduce GE’s FlexEfficiency gas turbine technology to Asia

GE and Toshiba Corporation announced that GE’s FlexEfficiency gas turbine technology will be introduced to Japan and other Asian countries. GE and Toshiba have a long-standing partnership that spans 80 years. Both companies have agreed to promote new combined cycle power plants using GE frame 9FB gas turbines, which incorporates GE’s FlexEfficiency technology combined with Toshiba’s high efficiency steam-turbine generators. GE’s FlexEfficiency technology is an innovative solution that meets the global demand for cleaner and more efficient energy. The new FlexEfficiency technology delivers the highest fuel efficiency in the industry, a key feature required by customers across Asia. By rapidly ramping up and down in response to fluctuations in wind and solar power, the technology will enable the integration of more renewable resources into the power grid. GE’s FlexEfficiency technology was officially launched in the Asian market at POWER-GEN Asia. It was introduced earlier this year. (September 28, 2011)
