Fujian to build chemical industrial park

The Quangang Petrochemical Industrial Zone in Quanzhou City of Fujian Province was recently awarded the title China Petroleum and Chemical (Quangang) Park by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, becoming one of nine national petrochemical parks in the country. The zone, which will ultimately cover 24.5 sq. km., has already completed construction in an area covering 7.76 sq. km. and has generated more than 19 billion yuan (US$2.8 billion) in output value in 2007, which is expected to exceed 25 billion yuan (US$3.7 billion) in 2008 and 100 billion yuan (US$14.7 billion) in 2010.
