Fuji Heavy to resume normal operations at factories by mid-2009

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. will do away with its production cutbacks mid-2009 in Japan and the U.S., bringing its manufacturing structure back to normal, as it has seen its inventories go back to normal levels. The producer of Subaru cars expects strong demand for its Legacy line-up when the autos are fully remodeled at mid-year, which also contributed to the firm’s decision. A factory in Gunma Prefecture in Japan will start manufacturing the new Legacy this spring, resuming weekend shifts and overtime hours. Friday work hour shortenings in the U.S., which were implemented in February and March, will come to an end when production of the Legacy starts. (March 11, 2009)
