Fuel-efficient diesel vehicles becoming popular in South Korea

Fuel-efficient diesel-powered sedans and SUVs are becoming more popular in South Korea, and Korean carmakers including Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors, as well as major foreign carmakers like BMW, Mini, Volkswagen, Nissan and Chrysler are scrambling to introduce new diesel vehicles. According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association, 35.2% of imported vehicles sold in the market last year were diesel-powered cars, compared to 25.4% a year earlier.
