Fuel-efficient Demio could be launched this year

The Research and Development division of Mazda Motor Corp. are hard at work on a technology that would allow vehicles to travel up to 30km on a single liter of gasoline and it could be out later this year. The company is due to launch a remodeled Demio subcompact fitted with an engine using SkyActiv. SkyActiv is a technology that Mazda has been working on for more than 10 ten years and involves a fuel efficient engine with improvements to the compression ratio, pumping loss and the shape of the pistons. If successful, Mazda will add SkyActiv technology to all of its vehicles in the next five years. (April 25, 2011)
