Fuchs invest in new warehouse in MelbourneFuchs has invested in a new state-of-the-art 5,000 square meter warehouse costing around AUD 4.5 million (USD 4.1 million), in Melbourne, Australia.
Fuchs Petrolub AG, which is headquartered in Mannheim, Germany, is the world’s largest independent manufacturer of lubricants and specialty products.
The facility is part of Fuchs’ investment strategy to establish it as the leading lubricant company in the Asia-Pacific region.
The recent investment into the company’s Australian operations began with the development of a grease plant in 2010 built at a cost of AUD 2.5 million (USD 2.3 million) and a Regional Lubricant Laboratory and Technical Centre in 2011 built at a cost of AUD 1.5 million (USD 1.3 million), which was equipped with more than AUD 1 million (USD 917,229) of equipment.
“We will continue to invest and develop in the region to meet growing demand and achieve our mission of providing the Australian industry and consumers with the highest-quality lubricants, greases and oils,” said Wayne Hoiles, managing director of Fuchs Lubricants (Australasia).
The new warehouse is part of a AUD 6 million (USD 5.5 million) investment; the remaining AUD 1.5 million (USD 1.3 million) will be spent to expand the capacity and improve the efficiency of Fuchs’ plant in Sunshine, Victoria.
“Our Australasian business is of significant importance to the Fuchs Group, and the construction of this new warehouse in Melbourne is part of our global investment program to invest in the future,” said Georg Lingg, Fuchs Petrolub AG executive board member, responsible for the Asia-Pacific and Africa regions, who was at the company’s Australasia Sunshine plant to officially open the new warehouse.
“The Australasian business plays such an important role in the Southeast Asian region, and we are consistently looking at ways to invest and improve efficiency in high-performing markets like Australia,” he said.
