Freudenberg expands to Chengdu
Freudenberg is expanding its global filter production network with the construction of a new production site at Xindu Industrial Park, Chengdu, in Sichuan province. The 12,000 square meter plant is scheduled to begin production of both engine air intake filters and cabin air filters in early 2013. The new facility is the project of Freudenberg Vilene Filter, a joint venture which was set up in January 2012 by Freudenberg Filtration Technologies and Japan Vilene. The joint venture initially produced micronAir and Viledon filters for the Chinese automotive and industrial markets. Freudenberg Vilene Filter is the third production plant of Freudenberg in China; the two other facilities are located in Suzhou and Changchun. Automobile production in this part of western China is expected to increase significantly in the next few years and Freudenberg Vilene Filter is positioning itself to serve the growing demand for automotive and industrial filters.
