Fortune Oil gets approval for its LNG Duel Fuel Technology

Fortune Oil recently hosted a summit of leading industry experts to review the company’s Yangtze River ship trial using diesel-LNG dual fuel engine technology.  Experts included officials from the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China Classification Society (CCS), Ministry of Science and Technology Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Chongqing regional government officials. The experts approved the deployment phase of the project. Yangtze Shipping Group, which is partnering with Fortune Oil, is currently retrofitting its ships with a patented dual fuel technology.  Fortune Oil is in the process of developing a network of LNG refueling stations along the Yangtze River, which will give the company a fully integrated LNG supply chain. The new technology should assist with reducing carbon dioxide emissions thereby improving local air and water quality. Qian Benyuan, chairman of Fortune Oil said, “We are absolutely delighted at the outcome of the meetings. This dual fuel LNG technology provides Fortune Oil the platform to partner with China not only along the Yangtze River but throughout China in its effort to significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the shipping sector.” (April 13, 2011)
