Ford to expand engine factory in India
Ford Motor Co. announced that it will expand the capacity of its engine plant in Chennai, India, to produce 80,000 more diesel engines per year. Currently the plant can make about 250,000 gasoline and diesel engines. The expansion will also create more than 300 local jobs. The expansion is expected to cost US$72 million and will be completed in mid-2012. Michael Boneham, president of Ford India, said the expansion will help Ford build more fuel-efficient engines for India and other markets. (May 17,2011)
