Ford to add EcoBoost engines for all Chinese vehicles

Ford aims to incorporate its EcoBoost engines in all of its vehicles built in China from next year, reports Automotive News China. Robert Graziano, chief executive of Ford China, confirmed the move, stating that, “We’re planning the introduction of our EcoBoost engine technology in [China during] 2010, as well as other fuel efficient technologies, such as the PowerShift transmission, which we believe will meet the China market’s requirements.” Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, the three-way Chinese joint venture (JV) between Ford, Mazda, and local automaker Chongqing Changan Automobile, also said that, “It’s a key strategy for Changan Ford and we would like to apply it to the whole product line-up. We are still in the process of deciding which model will be the first to use this technology.” (December 2, 2009)
