FHI to sell EVs by 2013

Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI), owner of the Subaru brand, will reportedly start selling electric vehicles (EVs) in overseas markets as early as 2013. FHI President Ikuo Mori was quoted as saying that the company will initially start with Europe and eventually expand its EV sales to North America and other regions, depending on demand. The company has already announced that it will launch a new gasoline-electric hybrid vehicle in 2012, under its Subaru brand. This is in line with FHI’s strategy to introduce more hybrid and electric vehicles onto its domestic and North American markets. (December 17, 2009)
