FAW-VW marks beginning of EV program in China
Volkswagen (VW), one of the leading automakers in China, and its Chinese joint-venture (JV) partner, First Automobile Works (FAW), officially marked the start of their “Kaili” electric vehicle (EV) program in the country with an opening ceremony held at the Foshan (Guangdong) plant; the plant is scheduled to begin operations next year. Manfred Mazen, technical vice-president for FAW-VW, underscored the importance of the program in the development of the EV industry in China. (May 15, 2012)
