Exxon Mobil Chemical to establish tech center in Shanghai

ExxonMobil Corp.’s chemical division has said it would establish a technology center in Shanghai. The center, the company said, would provide product-application support for markets no only in China, but in the rest of Asia as well. According to ExxonMobil, the center would be up and running in 2010. The company declined to disclose how much its investment in the center was. The center will have laboratories and demonstration facilities that will show customers what the company’s products can do and how they can be applied. “Over the next 10 years we expect 60% of the world’s petrochemical growth to occur in Asia, and we are rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint through major capacity additions in Fujian, China, and Singapore,” said Steve Pryor, president of ExxonMobil Chemical, in a statement.
