Extension sought for Pandacan depot move
Virginia Ruivivar, public affairs manager of Petron Corporation, confirmed that Petron Corporation, Pilipinas Shell and Chevron Philippines are discussing whether to maintain a single location once the oil depot in Pandacan is closed down. Ruivivar said their lawyers have asked the Supreme Court to allow them an extension to find the proper relocation site and it seems that the court will grant their request. She noted that Shell Philippines Country Manager Ed Chua has expressed Shells willingness on the build-operate-transfer (BOT) scheme, which Petron is also considering, should the three major oil companies fail to find the appropriate relocation site. The Pandacan oil depot supplies around half of the country’s total fuel demand and 100% of its lubricant requirements. (June 14, 2008)
