Evonik raise prices of high-performance polymers and monomers

Starting June 1, Evonik Industries AG of Germany has increased its prices for high-performance polymers and monomers. Prices in the Asia-Pacific region were expected to rise by 15% on average for invoices in dollars and 8% for invoices in euros. The price increases are in response to higher raw material costs, especially for butadiene, and the weakening of the U.S. dollar against the euro. The high-performance polymers division produces customized and semi-finished products and systems via a workforce of more than 1,000 in Germany and overseas, including Changchun in China. The division is supported by a sales and marketing network based at Marl, Germany, Shanghai, China, and at Parsipanny, N.J., in the United States. (May 26, 2008)
