EV working group to address infrastructure needs
The Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) in Australia said that the cost and environmental hazards of recycling toxic batteries is one of the difficulties faced by the electric car industry. The Chamber’s Chief Executive Andrew McKellar said there is an urgent need for infrastructure for electric cars, plug-in hybrids, ethanol and alternative fuels. Several brands, McKellar said, are preparing to bring in cars with new fuel technologies designed to enhance performance in an environmentally friendly way. To help manufacturers address technological difficulties, the FCAI said that it will put together an electric-vehicle (EV) working group to help with infrastructure needs. The working group will identify the types of vehicles that companies plan to launch and will help them meet technical and registration requirements of new-generation hybrids and plug-in electric cars.
