EV advanced propulsion R&D alliance established in Taiwan

The Taiwanese Automotive Research and Testing Centre (ARTC) has established the country’s first electric vehicle (EV) advanced propulsion system research and development (R&D) alliance, reports China Economic News Service (CENS). The alliance will invest NT$500 million (US$15.67 million) towards the development of EVs and related technology in the country and is in turn expected to generate a total production value of NT$3 billion (US$94.04 million) in the next three years. The Taiwanese companies involved in the alliance include Fukuta Electric and Machinery, which is responsible for the development of an EV motor; Rich Electric, which will build the propulsion control system; and Kuo Yuan Enterprise, which will develop the EV transmission system.
