Essar Energy announced that it will be completing several large-scale projects in the next year, including an expansion of the Vadinar Refinery to 20 million tons by 2012. Naresh Nayyar, chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director of Essar Oil and CEO of Essar Energy, said recently, “The phase one expansion of the Vadinar Refinery is scheduled to reach mechanical completion in a phased manner over the second and third quarters of calendar year 2011.” By the fourth quarter, the new units are expected to commence production. The overall completion of the project now stands at 86%. The cost of the expansion is Rs 7,600 crore (US$1.6 billion). April 28, 2011
