Energy Ministry to propose extending subsidy on LPG, NGV
Thailand’s Ministry of Energy will propose extending a subsidy on retail prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas for vehicles (NGV) until the end of the year to the National Energy Policy Council. “Although the economy is recovering, people are still in hardship and the Oil Fund has sufficient money to subsidize,” Minister of Energy Wannarat Charnnukul said. Thailand currently fixes retail prices of LPG and NGV at 18.13 baht (US$0.56) per kilogram (kg) and 8.50 baht (US$0.26) per kg respectively. The subsidy is due to lapse at the end of August.
