Eco-Energy and Copersucar join forces to become largest global biofuel marketer

Eco-Energy and Copersucar have agreed to internationalize their ethanol operations through a joint investment which will be subject to certain regulatory approvals. Eco-Energy, with 30 years of history, is a leading biofuel marketer and logistics company in North America and currently handles 9% of the U.S. ethanol market, with annual sales of more than US$3 billion. Copersucar is a Brazilian company with 53 years of tradition in the sugar and ethanol industry, currently marketing 24% of the sugarcane production of the Central-South region of Brazil.
The partnership will result in a combined global supply capacity of 2.6 billion gallons (10 billion liters) of biofuel per year, making it the largest ethanol trader in the world. It will maintain a significant presence in North America and Brazil, the two largest ethanol markets in the world. This partnership will create the largest and most sophisticated biofuels platform in the world, and will help create significant efficiencies in the global supply chain, while adding value to the two companies. The companies said their operations are very similar and complementary, and will focus on the integration of world supply-demand and logistics solutions through the entire supply chain.
