Eastern Petroleum to have 15 more stations by year-end

Philippine fuel retailer Eastern Petroleum Corp. plans to open 12 more service stations by December to add to the three facilities that were completed in the first half, a top company official said in August.
“Ten service stations are under construction and, by December, all of them will be open already,” Eastern Petroleum CEO Officer Fernando L. Martinez said.
The 10 new stations will be located in the provinces of Davao, Leyte, Bohol, Cavite and Cebu, he said, adding that “[t]wo more stations are already under site negotiation… in Pampanga and Bataan.” These two stations are also expected to be operational by December.
Martinez said, “[A] service station costs about PHP30 million (USD691,000).”
The planned 12 facilities will add to the 43 stations the company had as of the end of June. “In the first semester, we opened three new service stations. These are located in General Santos City; Binan, Laguna; and Legazpi City in Albay. As of December last year, we had 40 stations all over the country,” Martinez said.
In January 2012, Martinez had said Eastern Petroleum would open 60 new stations this year. “We decided to build just 15 gasoline stations this year instead of 60 because we will be making available our new LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) product in 200 outlets by December,” Martinez explained.
Martinez said the outlets will offer EC Gas, its LPG brand, as well as lubricants. “The 200 outlets include our existing 25 service stations in Luzon and the rest will be distributors of EC Gas and Eastern Petroleum’s lubricants.”
