E10 to become new standard in New South Wales

Standard unleaded petrol will no longer be available in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, after July 1 next year, after the Australian state government legislated a minimum biofuel ratio. Under the Biofuel Act, all regular petrol sold in NSW will have to contain at least 10% ethanol, State Minister for Planning Tony Kelly said. Part of the government’s 10-year biofuels strategy, the new minimum ratio would provide certainty for the biofuels industry to invest in new processing plants, he said. (May 13, 2010)
