DuPont Philippines to top Asia-Pacific in sales growth
The Philippine unit of U.S.-based chemical giant E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. Inc. will lead its counterparts in the region in sales growth this year even though it is projected to expand at a slower pace. Carl J. Lukach, president of DuPont Asia Pacific Ltd., said the Philippines has performed “excellently,” standing out among other Asian units. “In East Asia – Korea, Japan, all of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations), Australia, New Zealand – of all those 11 countries, the growth of the Philippines in 2009 would most likely be number one,” he said. The Philippines, though, is one of its smallest markets in the region. Ramon S. Abadilla, managing director of Du Pont Far East, Inc.- Philippines, said the company has done well largely due to the to the continued growth of the agriculture sector. (August 11, 2009)
