Dumai refinery expansion to be completed by 2017

Indonesia’s state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and South Korea’s SK Energy plan to cooperate on the proposed expansion of the 120,000 barrel per day (bpd) Dumai refinery in central Sumatra, a Pertamina official said. Details, including additional capacity, capital investment, as well as equity sharing, will be discussed later. The refinery processes Sumatran Light and Duri crudes, which are produced by Chevron Pacific Indonesia from the central Sumatran region. The expansion of the Dumai refinery is expected to be completed in 2017, according to Processing Director Edi Setianto. Initially, Pertamina was looking at raising the refinery’s capacity by 80,000 bpd by 2014. (December 8, 2010)
