Dow Corning opens technology centre in Singapore
Dow Corning opened a business and technology centre in Singapore that will help it meet the region’s growing demand for silicone products and services. The facility, the firm’s first in the Asia-Pacific region, is in the Solaris building in Fusionopolis, Singapore’s research and development hub for physical sciences and engineering. Scott Fuson, Dow Corning’s president for Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand, said the facility will also serve as the company’s regional headquarters. The aim in setting up the facility is to accelerate innovation and sustainability in key regional industries such as electronics, renewable energy and construction. This could involve work on a broad range of industries, including beauty care, textiles, as well as lubricants. Dow Corning operates similar centres in China, Europe, the United States and South America. Currently, the Asia-Pacific region contributes less than a third to its global annual sales.
