Dongfeng Nissan to start exports

Dongfeng Nissan Passenger Vehicle Co., Nissan Motor Co.’s Chinese joint venture (JV), will export 400 Livinas and 500 Bluebirds to Egypt, which will be sold by local Nissan dealers. Other global shipments from the company’s plant in Guangdong Province will follow. Dongfeng Nissan exported 1,000 cars to Angola in 2006 with a Hong Kong firm acting as an agent, but the shipments to Egypt will be the first within Nissan’s global network. In addition to its main business of producing and selling cars for the Chinese domestic market, the JV will also act as a Nissan group production site for vehicles with left-side steering wheels. Other foreign producers exporting cars made in China include Honda Motor Co., with the Guangdong plant that specializes in exports. U.S. carmaker General Motors Corp. also exports some models via Shanghai General Motors Corp. (September 8, 2008)
