Dong’an to produce automatic transmission China's Harbin Dong’an

Automotive Engine Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is to start making automatic transmissions (ATs) with the technology to be supplied by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation at a new plant in Heilongjang province. With an overall planned investment of two billion yuan (US$293.6 million), the project is divided into two phases, the first of which would start from 2008 to the end of 2009. During the period, workshops and facilities like assembly lines, testing lines and processing lines would be built for the production base, capable of manufacturing 150,000 ATs a year. The second phase would start in 2014 and end in 2015. The processing line would be further completed, as an effort to increase the production capacity to 300,000 ATs per year. The production base is expected to become one of the main AT providers of Mitsubishi Motors. (June 26/July 8, 2008)
