DOE: Shell, Chevron operations normalized

Operations of Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and Chevron Philippines, Inc. have “normalized” despite the continued closure of the Philippines’ Batangas-Manila fuel pipeline. The Department of Energy (DOE) however said the pipeline still needs to be reopened after undergoing tests. The fuel pipeline operated by First Philippine Industrial Corp., which provides 60% of Metro Manila’s fuel supply, was ordered shut by the Makati city government on October 28, 2010 after a gasoline spill flooded a residential condominium basement in the city.
