DOE approves 7 biofuel projects

The Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) has given the gosignal for seven biofuel projects with combined investments of more than Php7 billion (US$148.40 million). The largest project in the line-up is the Php3.4-billion (US$72.08 million) bioethanol facility to be undertaken by Cavite Biofuels Producers Inc. Located in Magallanes, Cavite, the plant is expected to produce 34.4 million liters of bioethanol. Publicly-listed Chemrez Technologies Inc., meanwhile, will put up a 75-million liter biodiesel facility in Bagumbayan, Quezon City, with a total project cost of Php650 million (US$13.78 million).
