Diesel shortage causes serious problem for grain farmers in Victoria

A shortage of diesel fuel in western Victoria and South Australia has compelled fuel distributors to limit the supply to grain farmers at harvest time, said Andrew Weidemann, Victorian grains group president. He added that distributors keep growers going by supplying them half of what they order. The situation was expected to ease up as Shell’s Geelong refinery started production again after having been shut down due to mechanical problems. (December 6, 2012)
