Diesel fuel quality in Russia should rise in tandem with equipment, says technical director of railway machinery producers’ union

According to press sources, the head of the committee for locomotive-building at the Union of Railway Machinery Producers and technical director Vladimir Schneidmuller has said that Russia’s existing state standard for the production of diesel fuel should be more thoroughly developed in tandem with producers of locomotives and organizations that use the fuel. “The end document should ensure a high standard for components produced and, correspondingly, the reliable work of diesels,” Schneidmulle said.
The Union of Railway Machinery Producers was created in 2007 as a non-commercial partnership for coordinating the operations of sector enterprises founded by, among others, the OJSC Russian Railways, TMH, Tractor Plants, and Russian Transport Machine-building Corporation. The Union currently has 100 Russian and foreign members that account for around 90% of the railway equipment produced in the country. (December 28, 2012)
