Demand for diesel vehicles in India on the rise
Demand for diesel vehicles in India has increased because of its lower price and higher fuel efficiency. Although almost 70% of the Indian car market is still made up of small cars, all the auto makers are now developing diesel versions in a bid to capture the market. “At present, the diesel car space accounts for more than 20% of the market and it will continue to expand very fast,” said Vikas Jain, director for sales at General Motors India. Diesel-fueled vehicles make up almost 32% of total cars sold in India. (August 18, 2011)
